A delegation of the House of Representatives, consisting of Mr. Alexandra Attalidou, will leave tomorrow for Geneva, to participate in the 148th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which will be held between 23 and 27 March 2024. The delegation will be accompanied by the Senior International Relations Officer Ms Augusta Christou and the International Relations Officer Mr Kostas Koullapis.
The main theme of the Conference is "Parliamentary diplomacy: building bridges of peace and understanding". Other key issues to be addressed at the Conference include the impact of the development of autonomous weapons systems on society and people; the impact of artificial intelligence on democracy, human rights and the rule of law; and the role of women in building and promoting sustainable peace.
The Conference will be preceded by a meeting of the Geopolitical Group "12+", in which Mr Stefanou and Ms Attalidou will participate.
