[PIO] Decisions of the Council of Ministers

The Council of Ministers, at its meeting today, chaired by the President of the Republic Mr. Nicos Christodoulides, decided to grant aid through Regulation 1408/2013 de minimis to citrus growers in the communities affected by the buffer zone.

The maximum total amount of aid is €100,000.

The aid is limited to a maximum total amount of €100,000. The amount will be distributed as extensification aid up to a maximum of €25/decimal for citrus growers who participated in the 2022 Voluntary Coupled Aid scheme and who were not eligible for the scheme provided for in the Council of Ministers' Decision of 20 December 2022, which concerned citrus growers throughout the territory of the Republic of Cyprus, which is effectively controlled by the State, and was targeted towards professional farmers as non-professional.

The Council of Ministers also approved the allocation of the necessary appropriations, up to a maximum total amount of €100,000, to the Cyprus Agricultural Payments Agency for the implementation of the payments, through the article on "Support measures for agri-food products" of the regular budget of the Department of Agriculture.

The Council of Ministers also approved the payment of emergency state aid in the form of de minimis aid to maize growers for a maximum total amount of €19,000 to 28 growers, due to the problems faced by the agricultural sector as a result of the excessively high price of fertilisers and the very high increase in energy (electricity and fuel) costs as a consequence of the war in Ukraine.

The Council of Ministers approved the payment of financial assistance of €20,000, in the form of de minimis aid, to the Producers' Group of Young Agricultural Producers (O.N.A.P.) Ltd. and the implementation of the payment from savings under the Article for "Measures to support agricultural and livestock products" of the regular budget of the Department of Agriculture. 27.5.2022, had approved 15 additional extraordinary support measures for the economy to counter inflationary pressures, totalling €103 million. The €9.5 million of this Decision concerned support to livestock and agricultural sectors, as well as to producer groups and organisations.

Based on the Plan approved by the European Commission, the payment of aid amounting to €250.000 to Producer Groups in the sheep and goat sector, which were approved as 'Producer Groups' by the Department of Agriculture as the Competent Authority, until 27 May 2022.
