TUS Airways has informed the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Mr. Yannis Karousos, of its decision to expand and double the number of flights on the Paphos-Athens route. This is a move of great importance for our country, and especially for the citizens of Paphos, whose response has proven that the air connectivity of Paphos Airport with Athens can be viable, further enhancing the connectivity of Paphos Airport.

The airline had added the Paphos-Athens route to its flight schedule on 10 December 2021 with two flights per week and with an initial planning for a total of eight flights until 9 January 2022.

The airline had added the Paphos-Athens route to its flight schedule on 10 December 2021 with two flights per week and an initial planning for a total of eight flights until 9 January 2022. The positive response from passengers and, by extension, the viability of the flights, led the company to decide to continue the route after 9 January 2022, increasing the number of flights to four weekly until March 2022.

In addition, the airline's intention to extend the number of flights from Paphos to Athens beyond March, and to increase them to eight flights per week, provided that demand remains at satisfactory levels.

"The retention of Paphos in TUS Airways' flight schedule and the doubling of flights to Athens is a very important development for the residents of the Paphos and Limassol Districts, but also for Cyprus in general, which will have multiple benefits for air connectivity, tourism and the wider economy. The direct flight from Paphos to Athens was requested by the local community of Paphos, which proved that this flight can be viable. I hope that this support will continue until March in order to achieve the expansion of the route on a 12-month basis," Karousosos commented. At the same time, the Transport Minister is in constant communication with the company, with the aim of exploring the possibility of further expanding its flight programme in Cyprus, particularly the routes from Paphos.
