Foreign Minister Dr Konstantinos Kombos, who is in New York for the United Nations General Assembly High-Level Week, held a series of bilateral contacts yesterday, Friday, 22 September 2023.
Mr. Kombos held a bilateral meeting with Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin, with whom he discussed issues related to bilateral relations as well as international developments. The Foreign Minister briefed his counterpart on the latest developments in the Cyprus issue. After the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding on Bilateral Consultations between the two countries was signed.
At a meeting with Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov, Mr. Kompos had the opportunity to exchange views on the further strengthening of relations, both at bilateral and multilateral level. He also briefed his counterpart on the latest developments in the Cyprus issue and on the efforts our side is making to resume negotiations.
During the day, the Foreign Minister participated in trilateral meetings between the Foreign Ministers of Cyprus, Greece and Jordan and Κύπρου-Ελλάδας-Αιγύπτου.
Ο κ. Minister also accompanied the President of the Republic to his midday meeting with the UN Secretary General Mr. Antonio Guterres and attended the lunch hosted by the President of the Republic for the Ambassadors of the five Permanent Members of the UN Security Council.
