Important contacts were held in recent days in Stockholm and Helsinki by the Deputy Minister of Tourism Mr. Kostas Koumis.

Specifically, Mr. Kumis met with leading executives of tourism organizations and airlines operating tourism programs and routes from the Nordic countries to our country, where they exchanged views both for this year and for next year.

They discussed all the developments in four of the five Nordic countries that are linked to our country in terms of tourism, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark, while other issues that would make our country's tourism even more competitive were also discussed.

In his statements, the Deputy Minister said the following. I would say that we are very satisfied with the results of our contacts, and we are very optimistic that our goal will be achieved.

It has been known for a few days that Finnair is planning to increase the number of seats offered to our country for next year, and we expect a reasonable increase to be achieved by other partners focusing on other countries, perhaps even from new cities, which we also consider important.

These are four markets that have been linked to our country's tourism for many, many years, as it is known that these countries have recorded significant numbers of visitors since the 1980s.

What is important for us is that year after year we achieve a reasonable, steady increase in the number of places on offer and we are certainly interested in extending the tourist season, as well as strengthening the winter season.

The fact that Finnair decided to maintain the Helsinki - Larnaca flight also in winter is for us a great success, but also a challenge.

I also consider it extremely important that we discussed in detail the degree of satisfaction of both our partners and the thousands of tourists who visited our country. What remains now is the finalisation of our partners' programme and certainly the planning of promotional activities.

We should all work collectively and purposefully in order to bring even better days for our country's tourism."
