The Spring Conference was attended by the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection, Ms Irini Loizidou Nikolaidou, representing both our country and the European Data Protection Board in her capacity as Vice-Chair of the Board. The Commissioner's participation was important in the proceedings of the Summit, as she had the role of moderator of the discussion on "Navigating privacy and data protection in the age of emerging technology and innovation".
In this discussion, issues related to the protection of personal data and the role of the Data Protection Authorities in the context of artificial intelligence and issues related to the protection of children on online platforms were developed. In addition, positions and views were analysed on the information that citizens should receive, as well as on processing operations, which should be both user-friendly and take into account data protection principles when designing such operations.
It is worth noting that our Office organised the Spring Session of the European Data Protection Authorities in 2007 in Larnaca and in 2017 in Limassol.
