The people and the leadership ascended again to the Holy Monastery of Panagia of Kykkos, to walk in the steps of the great march and to honour the historical memory of Archbishop Makarios III, the first President of the Republic of Cyprus, leader and national leader of Cypriot Hellenism.

To confirm the starting point, the route and the destination of our people:

From the darkness of slavery, through struggle and sacrifice, towards the light of freedom.

And to assure history by living example that:

The great course of Makarios was parallel to the historical course of Cyprus:

From the community of Panagia to the Monastery of Kykkos.

To the Pancyprian Gymnasium, to the Theological School of Athens, to Boston University.

In the Metropolis of Kition, in the Ethnarchy, in the Archbishopric.

In Faneromeni and then in the Seychelles.

In Athens, in London, in Nicosia, in the Presidential Palace.

All over the world: in America, in China, in Africa, in Europe.

In Agia Tillaria and in Omorphita. In Kofinou.

In the United Nations, in the Plenary and the Security Council.

Then suddenly in the Pediaion River, again in the Monastery of Kykkos, in Paphos, in Akrotiri, in Malta, in England, in New York...

On the balcony of the Archdiocese.

In the refugee camps.

On the balcony of the Archdiocese.

In the refugee camps.

In Eleftherias Square.

For the last time in the Monastery of Kykkos.

And then high on the Throne of Panagia.

Makarios identified with Cyprus and the people identified with Makarios:

From the union referendum, to the liberation struggle of EOKA and the freedom of Cyprus.

From the union referendum, to the liberation struggle of EOKA and the freedom of Cyprus.

To the foundation of the Republic of Cyprus, to the first steps of independence.

To the undercutting, the provocations, the Turkandarsia.

To the confirmation of legitimacy and the continuation of the state.

To the terrorism of the National Front and EOKA II.

To conspiracy and treason.

To the coup d'état and the invasion.

To the coup d'état and the invasion.

To conspiracy and treason.

To the coup d'état and the invasion.

To the return, to the olive branch, to the historic compromise of the federation.

And then up to the Throne of Panagia.

The sweet land suffered much,

that much death was everywhere

and much martyrdom was.

And the shepherd came,

and settled the times with virtue

and healed the wounds with fortitude.

And the nations have always heard his voice.

Makarios was a leading personality of global reach and ecumenical radiance.

He proudly carried the tradition and culture of the long history of Hellenism and Christianity.

He fully understood the facts and limitations of the international level of politics and diplomacy.

He was able to lead as a flag-bearing visionary and as a pragmatic leader.

He was able to grasp the distinction between the desirable and the feasible, to substantiate it and to implement it, according to the range of possibilities, without any unnecessary retreats.

He dared to lead the struggle for self-determination.

He dared to accept independence.

He dared to separate the desirable from the feasible.

He dared to agree to federation.

Against foreign intrusions and dividing lines designed to separate the citizens and divide the territories of the newly established Republic of Cyprus.

Unfortunately, no political planning can include consideration of the possibility of high treason.

Unfortunately, no political planning can include consideration of the possibility of high treason: The conspiracy to invite Turkey and the partition of Cyprus, with thousands of dead, refugees, missing and trapped people.

At the same time, a constant parameter of the Cyprus problem is the Turkish expansionist policy which, unfortunately, is methodically applied and confirmed over time, but must be lifted in order to create the prospect of a solution to the Cyprus problem.

Every next President of the Republic of Cyprus, every leader of the Cypriot Hellenism receives the baton of the existential struggle for national survival and the anti-Cypriot struggle for liberation.

President Christodoulides has received a popular mandate to break the deadlock and stalemate of the past years, to resume negotiations, and to resolve the Cyprus problem.

The President has worked tirelessly and methodically in this direction and the international community recognizes the consistency and sincerity of the desire for the reunification of our homeland.

May the positive response to the UN Secretary General's invitation for a trilateral meeting with the Turkish Cypriot leader be the beginning of positive developments.

And in view of this prospect, the message is timely:

"First and foremost, a strong and united internal front is needed, secured by the unity of our people."

The people and the leadership must stand shoulder to shoulder with the President of the Republic and fight together to achieve the outcome we seek and desire: to end the current status quo and replace it with a better future of security and prosperity in a liberated and reunited Republic of Cyprus.

Makarios' heart was the heart of Cyprus. It will be the pulse of the struggle for the progress and prosperity of its people, Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots, the Cypriot people as a whole."

This heart stopped beating on August 3, 1977.

The fair gate is wide open, and crimson canopies

open like the plagues of vespers

open their leaves.

Blessed is the now and ever, for ever and ever.

He raises the flags of the struggles.

Untouched by the decay of oblivion.

Untouched by the decay of oblivion.

Untouched by open attacks.

Intact and intact, despite the methods of political and moral degradation.

Just as all attempts to assassinate its physical annihilation have failed, so do all attempts to assassinate its historical memory.

The study and the attempts to assassinate the dead man remain surprising.

But the study is confirming that the legacy for the continuation of the struggle is alive, and it is the one they want to exterminate.

"Justice is wounded and trampled upon, but in the end it wins. Do not be overwhelmed by difficulties and adversity. Stand stiff, undaunted, undaunted, proud, undaunted, undaunted, undaunted.

And hold high the flag of struggle.

Our struggle is not directed against the Turkish Cypriots.

Our struggle is not directed against the Turkish Cypriots. They are also victims of the Turkish invasion and are not our opponents. Our opponent is Turkey. It is the invader that we want to drive out, so that the Greeks and Turks of Cyprus can be redeemed."

One people, one state, one homeland.

The Cypriot people.

The Republic of Cyprus.

Eternal memory of Archbishop Makarios.

Long live Cyprus.
