The Council of Ministers approved today, on the proposal of the Minister of Energy, Trade and Industry, Mr.Giorgos Papanastasiou, the "Plan of Grants for the Circular Economy in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)".

The Plan is included in the Cyprus Recovery and Resilience Plan for the period 2021-2026 and will be funded by the European Union (EU) Recovery and Resilience Mechanism. The total amount allocated for the needs of the Plan, during its implementation period, amounts to €14.4 million.

The Plan aims to support existing and new SMEs by supporting new circular economy investments in order to make their products, production processes and business practices more environmentally friendly. The financial support consists of the provision of a grant for defined eligible costs relating to the transition/start-up of a business based on a circular business model.

Activities related to the sectors of fisheries, aquaculture and primary production of agricultural/livestock products, as well as the production of wine and vinegar from wine, listed in Part II of Annex VII of Regulation (EU) 1308/2013, are not covered by the Scheme.

The maximum total amount of grant that can be granted to an SME is €400,000.

Interested parties can obtain the Scheme Guide, which sets out all the details, from the website of the Department of Industry and Technology.

Please note that applications/proposals from Beneficiaries will be submitted within a specific time period to be specified in the relevant Call for Proposals, which will be announced in the near future.
