The Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry (MoEIB) announces a Call for Applications under the Energy Efficiency Investment Promotion Scheme for Small and Medium Enterprises and Non-Profit Organisations. The Project will be implemented under Measure C2.1I1 of the Cyprus Recovery and Resilience Plan (CRP) and will be funded by the European Union (EU) Recovery and Resilience Mechanism, the central instrument of NextGenerationEU, the temporary instrument for financing the EU's recovery and exit from the pandemic crisis.

The total amount available for the needs of the call is €40 million.

The project aims to promote energy saving investments in buildings and facilities owned and/or used by SMEs and non-profit organisations. In particular, the objective is energy efficiency measures in existing buildings as well as in existing facilities, infrastructure and production units that currently have high energy consumption.

Beneficiaries are existing SMEs in all economic sectors except those falling on the exclusion list of the Plan (Annex C of the Implementation Guide). Investments by non-profit organisations not engaged in economic activity and registered either as Charitable Foundations or as Monastic / Ecclesiastical / Other Religious Authorities (for investments in accommodation for monks) are also covered.

It is stressed that ailing companies within the meaning of the Community Guidelines on State aid for rescuing and restructuring non-financially distressed companies (2014/C 249/01), are NOT eligible for a grant under this Scheme.

Interested parties can obtain the final Guide to the Scheme which sets out all the details from the website of the Department of Industry & Technology (www.meci.gov.cy/sit). The Sample Application Form and other required forms or documents will be posted on the same website within the next few days.

The proposal submission period will commence on a date to be published in a new announcement by the Ministry of Economic Development, which will be issued in the first half of April 2022. Applications will be accepted through the YEEB's online Grant Plan System until September 30, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. or until the available budget is exhausted.

It is emphasized that applications and related required supporting documents should be submitted only online at https:/fundingapps.mcit.gov.cy, using Chrome, Firefox and Edge browsers.
