[PIO] Call for expression of interest for Provisional Registration in the Register of Certified Translators

The Board of Registration of Sworn Translators invites applications for Provisional Registration in the Register of Sworn Translators to cover immediate needs in the following languages: Albanian, Arabic, Bosnian, Croatian, Czech, Croatian, Hebrew, Hebrew, Hungarian, Icelandic, Indian, Japanese, Chinese, Latvian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Dutch, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Serbian, Slovak, Slovak, Spanish, Swedish, Sri Lankan, Czech, Filipino, from and to Greek.

Please submit in a sealed envelope with the title: "Invitation of Interest for Provisional Registration in the Register of Chartered Translators 2022,[/U] the necessary supporting documents in accordance with the criteria set out below, together with the specific Application Form (available here pdf), no later than 10 March 2022, at the Tender Box located within the Press and Information Office (Apelles 5-7, 1080, Nicosia), no later than 10 March 2022:

[*]Priority will be given to holders of a degree in a foreign language (literature) or a degree obtained in the country where the foreign language is spoken. (Degrees in a language other than Greek or English must be accompanied by an official translation by a sworn translator). (e.g. foreign-language short university-level programs, high school diploma in the country of the foreign language, internationally recognized Language Examinations (e.g. GSCE O'Level, DELF, Goethe) (accompanied by their translation by a Sworn Translator for languages other than Greek and English)). Proof of Very Good Knowledge of Greek:

1. Cyprus/Greece High School Diploma, or
2. Certificate of Attainment in Greek Level C1 (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth, University of Cyprus or other recognised academic institution.

[*]A certificate of experience in translation from public bodies, private individuals or proof of payment of social security contributions as a translator will be considered an additional qualification. [*]Permanent resident of the Republic of Cyprus (Copy of identity card/passport/residence permit). [*]Recent clean criminal record (3 months old at the latest). [*]Short curriculum vitae. [*]Ability to use a computer and Microsoft Word (to be stated in the Application).

Confidentiality and professionalism in the assignment of translations are considered essential qualifications, to which the selected candidates will be bound by an Oath/Affirmation to be taken before the Council under the provisions of the Registration and Regulation of Sworn Translator Services in the Republic Act of 2019.

Those selected will serve temporary settlement purposes and no obligation is created for their retention in the Register after the written examinations to be held in 2023 for sworn translators by the Examination Service of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth.
