In the context of the ongoing dialogue on the Future of Europe Conference, an open debate with high school students was held, organised by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth and the General Secretariat for European Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in cooperation with the Representation of the European Commission in Cyprus, the Office of the European Parliament in Cyprus and the Press and Information Office. The event was attended by the Embassies of Germany, France and the Netherlands.
The event was held on 1 February 2022, at the Lyceum of Archbishop Makarios III Dasoupolis, with the physical presence of the participants, in compliance with all existing health protocols of the Ministry of Health and was broadcast live via internet through the YouTube channel of the Press and Information Office.

Building on the objectives of the Conference, the aim of the event was to provide a platform for students to express their ideas, aspirations and vision, thus contributing to shaping the Europe of the future. The debate focused on three key issues of concern to the European Union as a whole and to each of the individual Member States. Values and rights, rule of law, security, European democracy

During the event, 40 students - representatives of 20 high schools from all over Cyprus participating in the "Schools Ambassadors of the European Parliament" programme, had the opportunity to present their views and develop their positions through dialogue on the three themes before the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth, Mr. Mr. Prodromos Prodromou, the Head of the Representation of the European Commission in Cyprus Mrs. Myrtou Zambarta, the Head of the European Parliament Office in Cyprus Mr. Andreas Kettis and the Ambassadors of Germany Mrs. Anke Schlimm, France, Mrs. Salina Grenet Catalano, and the Netherlands Mrs. Elke Paula Merks. The discussion was moderated by the journalist, Ms Vivian Kanari.
On the eve of the event, on 31 January 2022, preparatory meetings of groups of students from the 20 high schools in question had taken place, via videoconference, for discussion with the Ambassadors of Germany, France and the Netherlands and to draw conclusions and ideas.
