[PIO] Announcements of the Department of Public Works for works in Paphos, Larnaca and Limassol Districts

1. Pavement control works on sections of the Paphos - Limassol motorway

The Paphos District Engineer's Office, Public Works Department, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces that on Thursday, 20/06/2024, and Friday, 21/6/2024, between 08:30-15:00, pavement control works will be carried out on sections of the Paphos - Limassol motorway (A6) on both lanes.

During the works, the fast and slow lanes will be partially closed and traffic will be diverted to the slow and fast lanes respectively.

2. AHK network upgrade works on Nikos and Despina Pattihis Avenue in Larnaca

The Larnaca District Engineer's Office, Department of Public Works, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces that on Thursday, 20/06/2024, between 08:30-11:30, on Nikos and Despina Pattihis Avenue in Larnaca, work will be carried out by a private company to upgrade the AHK network.

During the execution of the works, part of one lane of the Avenue will be closed near the light-controlled junction with Constantinople Street, for a length of approximately 50m, and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.

3. Replacement works of obsolete signalling equipment in the greater Limassol and Paphos area

The Department of Public Works, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces that from 25/03/2024 the replacement works of obsolete signalling equipment by a private company in 47 light-controlled intersections and 31 pedestrian crossings of Pelican type with new Extra Low Voltage (ELV) type with LED lamps, Pedestrian Countdown system and touch-type demand system for pedestrians started.

The equipment replacement work at each location will be completed within one day, barring contingency, and during the work the light-controlled intersections and pedestrian crossings will remain out of service. If necessary, temporary traffic lights will be installed, which may change the existing operation of the traffic lights until the end of the work. Also, some right turn lanes may be temporarily removed for safety reasons.

During the week 24/6/2024-30/6/2024 work will be carried out at the following intersections/pedestrian crossings:

3. Eleftherias Bastions (next to the Oval building): 26/06/24 (Pedestrian crossing - Limassol) George A' ("Dasoudi"): 27/06/24 (Pedestrian crossing - Limassol)
4. Avenue. (27th of Av. Hatzipavlou ("Molos"): 28/06/24 (Pedestrian crossing - Limassol)

4. Cleaning and pruning works of the central islands by the Municipality of Dromolaxia

The Larnaca District Engineer's Office, Department of Public Works, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces that during the period 25/6/2024-5/7/2024, between the hours of 08:30-15:00, every day except weekends, on the Larnaca - Kition road of Larnaca District, Larnaca District, cleaning and pruning of the central islands will be carried out by the Municipality of Dromolaxia.

During the execution of the works will be closed in sections, every 500m., the adjacent lane of the central island of the road from the light-controlled junction with Eleftherias Street in Dromolaxia to the roundabout of the old Larnaca Airport from both directions and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.

The Department of Public Works apologizes for the unavoidable inconvenience that will be caused and invites the public to show the necessary understanding and comply with the temporary road signs and the instructions of the Police.
