1. Pruning works by the Forestry Department
The Larnaca District Engineer's Office, Public Works Department of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces that during the period 1/7/2024 - 5/7/2024, between the hours of 08:30 - 16:00, on the Rizoelia - Xylotympos roundabout motorway, pruning works will be carried out on the central island by the Forestry Department.
During the execution of the works, the adjacent lane of the central island will be partially closed from both directions for a length of approximately 500 m. at a time and traffic will be directed to the adjacent lane.
2. The Larnaca District Engineer's Office, Department of Public Works of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces that during the period 1/7/2024 - 31/7/2024, from 08:30 in the morning until 15:00 in the afternoon, work will be carried out for cutting, picking and removing grass, as well as picking and removing waste objects from the embankments and slopes along the entire length of the Larnaca - Kofinou motorway in both directions, including junctions.
During the execution of the works, the motorway embankment will be closed in sections and traffic will remain in the lanes as normal without the embankment.
3. The Department of Public Works of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces that as of 25/03/2024 the replacement of obsolete signalling equipment by a private company at 47 light-controlled intersections and 31 pedestrian crossings of Pelican type in the Limassol and Paphos area started, with a new type of Extra Low Voltage (ELV) with LED lamps, a Pedestrian Countdown system and a touch-type pedestrian demand system.
Equipment replacement work at each location will be completed within one day, barring contingency. During the work, light-controlled intersections and pedestrian crossings will remain out of service. If necessary, temporary traffic lights will be installed, which may change the existing operation of the traffic lights until the end of the work. In addition, some right-hand lanes may be temporarily removed for safety reasons.
During the week of 1/7/2024 - 7/7/2024, work will be conducted at the intersections/pedestrian crossings:

The Limassol District Engineer's Office, Public Works Department of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces that from Monday 1/7/2024 until Thursday 4/7/2024, between the hours of 21:00 in the evening to 06:00 in the morning of the following day, local road repair works will be carried out on the Nicosia - Limassol motorway (A1), on the section Zygi to Mouttayaka.
During the works, both lanes of the motorway from Nicosia to Limassol will be partially closed for a length of approximately 3km and traffic will be diverted to the opposite direction which will operate in two-way traffic.
5. Waste collection works from the central island of the Limassol - Nicosia motorway
The Limassol District Engineer's Office, Public Works Department of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces that on Sunday, 30/6/2024, from 05:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m, On the Limassol - Nicosia motorway (A1), on the section from Germasogeia to Parekklisia, waste collection works will be carried out from the central island of the motorway.
During the works, the express lane in the direction of Nicosia will be partially closed and traffic will be diverted to the slow lane. Traffic will be managed by the mobile worksite system.
The Department of Public Works apologises for the unavoidable inconvenience that will be caused and invites the public to demonstrate the necessary understanding and compliance with the temporary road signs and the instructions of the Police.
