[PIO] Announcements of the Department of Public Works for works in Larnaca and Limassol Districts

1. Replacement works of signalling equipment in Larnaca district

The Department of Public Works, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces that from 6/9/2023, in the greater Larnaca and Famagusta area, work has started on the replacement of obsolete signalling equipment by a private company in 33 light-controlled intersections and 12 Pelican-type pedestrian crossings with a new type of Extra Low Voltage (ELV) with LED lamps, a Pedestrian Countdown system and a touch-type pedestrian demand system.

The equipment replacement work at each location will be completed within one day barring contingency. During the work, light-controlled intersections and pedestrian crossings will not be in operation unless it is necessary to install temporary traffic lights.

During the week of 15/1/2024 - 21/1/2024, work will be conducted on the confluence/pedestrian crossings:

2. Work on Artemis Avenue in Larnaca District

The Larnaca District Engineer's Office, Department of Public Works, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces that on Saturday 13/1/2024, between the hours of 08:00 - 13:00, work will be carried out by a private company on Artemis Avenue in Larnaca.

During the works, part of the left lane in front of the CNP CYPRIALIFE building, in the direction of Larnaca Airport, will be closed for approximately 50m and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.

3. Work on Grigoris Afxentiou Avenue in Larnaca District

The Larnaca District Engineer's Office, Department of Public Works, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces that on Sunday 14/1/2024, between the hours of 06:00 - 17:30, on Grigoris Afxentiou Avenue in Larnaca, demolition works of a building will be carried out by a private company.

During the execution of the works, the traffic lane towards the Larnaca Fire Station will be closed from the light-controlled junction of the Avenue with Lord Vyronos Street, for a length of approximately 50m, and traffic will be routed through adjacent roads using appropriate signage.

4. Works on the Episkopi - Mandria road in Limassol District

The Limassol District Engineer's Office, Department of Public Works, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces that on Monday 15/1/2024 and Tuesday 16/1/2024, from 07:00 until 16:00, asphalt road maintenance works will be carried out on sections of the Episkopi - Mandria road (E601), near the village of Kanto.

While the works are being carried out, one lane will be closed in sections at any one time, approximately 100m long at a time, and traffic will be alternately managed by the "STOP & GO" system using appropriate signalling.

The Department of Public Works apologizes for the unavoidable inconvenience that will be caused and urges the public to show due understanding and comply with the temporary road signs and the instructions of the Police.
