[PIO] Announcements of the Department of Public Works for carrying out works in Nicosia and Larnaca Districts

1. Traffic on the Nicosia - Troodos long-distance road

The Engineering Project Office of the Astromeritis - Evrychos Motorway, Public Works Department, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works, announces that on Monday 22/01/2024 and Thursday 25/01/2024, between 12:00 - 13:00, there will be a short interruption of traffic due to works on the Nicosia - Troodos interurban road in the area of Acha, near the village of Koutrafa.

The Department of Public Works apologises for the unavoidable inconvenience that will be caused and invites the public to show the necessary understanding and comply with the temporary road signs and the instructions of the Police.

2. Replacement works of obsolete signalling equipment in the greater Larnaca and Famagusta area

The Larnaca District Engineer's Office, Department of Public Works, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works, announces that from 06/09/2023, in the greater Larnaca and Famagusta area, work has started on the replacement of obsolete signalling equipment by a private company in 33 light-controlled intersections and 12 pedestrian crossings of Pelican type with a new type of Extra Low Voltage (ELV) with LED lamps, Pedestrian Countdown system and touch-type pedestrian demand system.

The equipment replacement work at each location will be completed within one day, barring contingency, and during the work the light-controlled intersections and pedestrian crossings will remain out of service. Traffic lights will be installed if and when necessary.

During the week 22/01/2024 - 28/01/2024, work will be carried out on the confluences/pedestrian crossings:

  1. Archbishop Kyprianou Avenue / Zakynthos Street (Traffic Lights, Larnaca)
  2. Artemis Avenue / Faneromeni Avenue (Traffic Lights, Larnaca)
