The Government announces today a package of 14 measures concerning a wide range of activities related to the daily life of our Turkish Cypriot compatriots.
The measures have been formulated unilaterally after an assessment of all the facts and will be implemented within the framework of domestic law, international law and the acquis communautaire.
Specifically, the 14 measures in the package are:
1. 1. Payment of widow's pension to beneficiaries.
3. Access of patients to the clinical services of the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics.
4. Coverage of emergency and urgent pharmaceutical needs.
5. Extension of the list of goods under the Green Line Regulation with the addition of 6 specific products.
6. Right to participate in human resources programmes under the action plan for the European Year of Skills.
7. Right to participate in training programmes of the Productivity Centre, including training seminars on EU acquis issues.
8. Right to obtain a Youth Culture Card for those who have reached the age of 18.
9. Strengthening of staffing at transit points.
10. Widening of the crossing point at St. Dometius.
11. Rapid transit measures for students at the Ledra Palace crossing point.
12. Recruitment of officers with knowledge of Turkish language at the Nicosia Citizen Service Centre.
13. Ensuring the continued smooth operation of the wastewater treatment plant in Mia Milia.
14. Further facilitate access to Muslim monuments in the free areas.
We remain committed to our efforts to create conditions for the resumption of negotiations for a settlement of the Cyprus problem on the basis of UN Security Council resolutions and the principles and acquis of the European Union.
