On the occasion of International Maritime Day, which is celebrated every year on 25 June, the Deputy Ministry of Shipping expresses its gratitude to all seafarers worldwide for their tremendous contribution to the global maritime industry.
Since 2011, at the initiative of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Seafarers' Day was established to honour the people of the sea, recognising the unique contribution of seafarers from around the world to international maritime trade, the global economy and civil society as a whole.
For 2024, the International Maritime Organization's campaign looks at the contribution of seafarers to making the maritime sector a safer place to work.
As part of the activities to promote International Maritime Day, a delegation from the Deputy Ministry of Shipping delivered yesterday, 25 June 2024, gifts to seafarers working on board ships that visited the Port of Limassol, as a token of the Cyprus Government's appreciation and gratitude to seafarers.
