The Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance announces again this year the implementation of the Training Plan for Employees of Hotel Establishments in total or partial suspension of operations during the period December 2023 - March 2024 and January 2024 - May 2024 (for hotels in mountain resorts).
The purpose of the Plan is to provide training opportunities to the employees of these hotel units with the ultimate aim of improving their professional skills and thus upgrading the tourism product of Cyprus.
The Training Scheme for Employees of Hotel Establishments in total or partial suspension of operations during the period December 2023 - March 2024 and January 2024 - May 2024 (for mountain resort hotels) will be implemented for two periods, namely from 1 December 2023 until 31 March 2024 and from 1 January 2024 until 31 May 2024 (for mountain resort hotels).
According to the above Plan, which has been approved by the Council of Ministers, if hotel establishments choose to continue their operations and during the period when they used to suspend their operations in previous years, then the unemployment benefit that would normally be provided to the employees will be provided to the hotel establishment as a training allowance, while the hotel establishment will pay the full salary to the employee.
The body responsible for administering the Scheme is the Social Security Services of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security.
