January salaries: Increased wages for 25,000 low-paid workers[/B]

The Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance informs that through the implementation of the Government Decree to increase the National Minimum Wage from €940 to €1,000, wages for the month of January are increased for approximately 25,000 low-paid workers.

The gradual improvement of the adequacy of the earnings of citizens, especially those who need to be protected from the risk of poverty and social exclusion, is a government priority that is aligned with the European Commission's guidelines and is being implemented according to the potential of the economy.

To monitor the effective implementation of the provisions of the Decree and the payment of the increased wages to the beneficiaries, the Ministry of Labour will carry out targeted inspections. At the same time, it will make use, if necessary, of the provisions of the Law, which provide for the imposition of an administrative fine of €250 per employer, criminal prosecution with a fixed maximum penalty of €5.000 and €50 per day of continued infringement and the obligation to pay any accumulated amounts due.
