The Council of Ministers today approved the promotion of a Sponsorship Scheme aimed at public, wider public and private sector organisations for the development and implementation of ISO 37001, an internationally recognised standard against bribery and corruption.
The Sponsorship Scheme is part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan, which was developed to make use of the resources allocated to Cyprus by the European Mechanism for Recovery and Resilience. Specifically, an amount of €2 million will be made available as a grant to approximately 120 public, wider public and private sector organisations to cover up to 60% of the costs for the private sector for the purchase of consultancy and certification services for the adoption of this Standard.
To this end, a grant has been prepared and will be posted on the website of the Ministry of Justice and Public Order a detailed Guide to the Project, which, inter alia, defines the categories of beneficiary organisations, the conditions of participation in the Project, the maximum amounts of sponsorship to cover part of the costs related to the purchase of consultancy and certification services, as well as all the criteria/conditions/specifications and procedures that will be applied in the implementation of this Project.
Given that preventing and combating corruption is very high on the Government's priorities, the Council of Ministers called upon the relevant Ministers to take all necessary steps to promote the participation in the Sponsorship Scheme of specific Departments of the Public Service which, due to the nature and scope of their work, it is considered appropriate to apply this Standard.
The submission of applications for participation in the Sponsorship Scheme begins immediately, and I would like to take this opportunity to invite all private sector entities to participate.
