[PIO] Announcement of the Ministry of Defence regarding the Defence and Security Research and Innovation Conference

The Ministry of Defence organised a Defence and Security Research and Innovation Conference, which took place at the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) on 21 and 22 May.

The conference presented the Ministry's objectives in the fields of research and innovation, the technological areas of interest and its initiatives in national and European research and development programmes. Representatives of the Cypriot defence research and innovation ecosystem were also given the opportunity to present their capabilities, and an update on the European Defence Fund and the process of participation and support from the Ministry of Defence was provided.

During his address, Mr. Palmas noted, inter alia, that the Ministry's goal is to strengthen the operation of a sustainable and healthy defence research and innovation ecosystem, capable of supporting with innovative solutions the operational needs of the National Guard.

The conference was attended by the Chairman of the Defense Committee of the House of Representatives, the Chief of Staff of the National Guard (GNEF), the Director General of the Ministry of Defense, and the Chief Scientist for Research, Innovation and Technology, the Director General of the Research and Innovation Foundation (RTI), the Secretary General of the KEBE, the Director of Industry and Technology of the Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry and representatives of other Ministries. More than 120 representatives of academic institutions, research centres and companies of the Cypriot research and innovation ecosystem also participated.
