Following today's protest by sheep and goat farmers, the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment (MARD) informs the following:

The YMCA is working to safeguard the PDO halalumi file by defending the reputation of the product and strengthening the protection of its name from imitation products.

During this period, the Decree is in force which provides for a minimum proportion of goat and sheep's milk of 25% in the raw materials used for the production of halalumi.

In recent times and after 21 February 2024, increased checks are being carried out in cheese dairies by the designated services. As part of the increase in both quantitative and qualitative inspections, additional inspectors have been authorised and are in the process of being trained.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry calls on stakeholders to cooperate in order to ensure the viability of all those involved in the production of steel flour. The cooperation of all stakeholders is in the interest of product protection.
