Today, at the Limassol Municipality's Blue Economy Innovation Centre, the presentation of the antiquities discovered during the works of the large flood protection project in the centre of Limassol took place.
The completion of the major flood protection project of the Limassol city centre is an important milestone for the Limassol Drainage Council (LDC). SALA's promise of strong flood protection for the city has been realised. The contract, worth approximately €7 million, was financed by the SALA with a government contribution and awarded to ATLAS PANTOU.
During the event, the President of the SALA, the Mayor of Limassol, Mr. Nikos Nicolaides, and the owner of the ATLAS PANTOU Group of Companies, Mr. Toni Toumazi, gave a welcome address. This was followed by the presentation of the project by the General Director of SALA Mr. Yannis Tsoulofta and concluded with the presentation of the antiquities discovered during the project by the Archaeological Officer of the Department of Antiquities Ms. Katerina Papanikolaou.
SALA ensured the presence of the archaeologist Mr. Roger Christodoulou throughout the works, in order to protect our antiquities and the uninterrupted continuation of the works.
During the execution of the project, important antiquities of the Middle and Late Bronze Age were found, which were transferred to the storerooms of the Department of Antiquities.
