The Larnaca Search and Rescue Coordination Centre (LRCRC) announces that on 12 March 2024, at 23:50, the LRC activated the National Plan E-D NEARCHOS for the purpose of airlifting a 48-year-old man, a member of the crew of a cargo ship. The ship was sailing at a distance of 120NM South-West Cyprus, within the E-W area of responsibility of the Republic of Cyprus (Nicosia FIR) and a helicopter of the 460MED of the Air Command of the General Staff of the National Guard (GNF) with a qualified paramedic of the Ambulance Service was mobilized to perform the air evacuation.
The person was delivered today, at 03:00, to the Paphos General Hospital.
