The Forestry Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment informs the public that on 23 May 2024, between the hours of 11:00 - 12:00, a planned forest fire extinguishing exercise called "HFAISTOS 2024" will take place southwest of the community of Kakopetria, Nicosia District.
Firefighting vehicles, personnel carriers, earth movers, tankers, ambulances and airborne firefighting vehicles, as well as personnel from all services of the Republic of Cyprus related to firefighting and volunteer groups will participate in the extinguishing operation.
The movement of personnel, firefighting and other vehicles involved in the exercise will take place between the hours of 07:30 - 13:00.
The public is further advised that the passage of private vehicles and general traffic on the Kakopetria - Pinewood road will be suspended during the exercise, specifically between the hours of 10:00 - 12:30.
