[PIO] Announcement of the Department of Public Works for works in Larnaca and Limassol Districts

1. The Larnaca District Engineer's Office, Department of Public Works, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces that road lighting maintenance works will be carried out on sections of the Larnaca Airport - Ayia Napa motorway, Larnaca District, as follows:

1. On Friday 19/7/2024, near the Kalo Chorio roundabout, between the hours of 8:30 - 16:00,
2. On Monday 22/7/2024, Tuesday 23/7/2024 and Wednesday 24/7/2024 near the 1st roundabout Xylofagou, between the hours of 8:30 - 16:00.

During the execution of the works, the left lane or the road shoulder will be closed for a length of 50 - 150m, as appropriate, and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.

2. The Larnaca District Engineer's Office, Department of Public Works, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces that on Saturday 13/7/2024, from 19:30 to 20:30, at Archbishop Makarios Avenue and Larnacos Street in Ormideia, a social event will be held by the Ormideia Community Council.

During the above event, Archbishop Makarios Avenue from its junction with Larnakos Street to the Ormideia Community Council and Larnakos Street from the Community Park to its junction with Archbishop Makarios Avenue will be closed to traffic and traffic will be directed through adjacent roads.

3. The Department of Public Works, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces that as of 25/3/202 the replacement of obsolete signalling equipment by a private company at 47 light-controlled intersections and 31 Pelican-type pedestrian crossings in the wider Limassol and Paphos area commenced, with a new type of Extra Low Voltage (ELV) with LED lamps, a Pedestrian Countdown system and a touch-type pedestrian demand system.

The equipment replacement work at each location will be completed within one day, barring contingency, and during the work the light-controlled intersections and pedestrian crossings will remain out of service. If necessary, temporary traffic lights will be installed, which may change the existing operation of the traffic lights until the end of the work. Some right-hand lanes may also be temporarily removed for safety reasons.
