[PIO] Announcement of the Department of Agriculture regarding the submission of cereal cultivation declaration on parcels to be planted with winter

The Department of Agriculture, Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, informs interested producers that the application forms for the Extensive Payment Scheme (ESS) to the Cyprus Agricultural Payments Organisation (CAP) will be different for the year 2024. In particular, it will not be possible to declare cereals/dry fodder crops and potatoes on the same parcel at the same time, for the same year. As a result, winter harvest potato producers, particularly those participating in integrated production management programmes and others, will be asked to declare 'Potatoes' as a crop in the 2024 extensification application without the option to declare cereal crops on the same parcel for the same year.

To solve the problem encountered, a period for submitting a cereals/dry fodder crop declaration is provided only for those parcels to be declared in the 2024 extensification application as "Potatoes" crop, which will be planted in the period August - October 2024 and are now planted with cereals/dry fodder crops. The relevant form should indicate the type of cereal/livestock crop grown and its area. In addition, when submitting the crop declaration, the relevant risk management levy should be prepaid by the applicant producer. Applicants to the CFCS may authorise the Department of Agriculture to deduct their levy through the CFCS. An authorisation form and facilitation for this process is available through the relevant District Agricultural Offices.

On-the-spot checks will be carried out by the Department of Agriculture on a large percentage of Crop Declarations. Where a false declaration is found, the producer will be excluded from any aid in case of damage to cereals for 2024.

The last day for submission of a Crop Declaration, based on the above exceptional procedure, is Monday 11 March 2024. Cultivation declarations of cereals/dry fodder plants after this date will be stamped as overdue and will not be taken into account.

For any additional information and assistance, interested producers are invited to contact the District Agricultural Office of their region.
