In view of the summer season, the Consumer Protection Service calls on consumers who intend to travel by air to be informed of their rights so that they can deal with any difficulties that may arise in relation to their journey.

In particular, they are invited to be informed of their rights if:

  1. their flight is delayed for more than three hours or cancelled,
  2. they are denied boarding due to overbooking,
  3. their baggage is damaged, lost or delayed.

Consumers, in the above cases, retain the right to compensation from airlines in the form of financial compensation, payment of the ticket price, an alternative flight, meals, drinks and accommodation if required.

In order to better and more fully inform consumers about their air rights, the Consumer Protection Agency is launching an information campaign from today. More information is available on its website Consumer Protection Agency and by calling 1429.
