[PIO] Announcement of the 3rd Call for Applications for the Grant Scheme for the Enhancement of Entrepreneurial Activity in the walled city of

The Department of Urban Planning and Zoning of the Ministry of Interior announces the announcement of the 3rd call for applications for the Grant Scheme for the Enhancement of Business Activity in the Walled City of Nicosia.

The Grant Scheme is part of the Action Plan for the Regeneration and Revitalisation of Nicosia within the Walls.

The Scheme concerns the provision of financial assistance to natural or legal persons, owners or tenants of buildings (with the signed consent of the owners), or tenants of Turkish Cypriot (T/C) property (with the signed consent of the Custodian of Turkish Cypriot Property - Prefect of Nicosia), who carry out or will carry out economic activity, for the purpose of enhancing business activity, in the area of Nicosia within the walls of Nicosia.

The main objectives of the Plan are to attract new businesses to the walled city of Nicosia, to encourage existing businesses to move to the areas of the Plan, to encourage businesses already operating in these areas to expand their existing premises, the social and economic upgrading of the area, the upgrading of the built environment by contributing to the circular economy and green growth, the attraction of citizens from all over Cyprus and the whole of the Nicosia urban area, and the creation of new jobs.

The Project is funded by the State Budget of the Republic of Cyprus and the total amount allocated for the needs of the Call for Proposals is €10 million (€2 million/year). The Scheme will remain open until 31 December 2026, and potential beneficiaries will be able to submit applications/proposals in specific time periods, which will be defined in the relevant call for proposals.

This, the 3rd call for proposals, was launched on 29 April 2024, with a total budget of €2 million.The amount of each grant will be 60% of the eligible costs of each proposal, with a maximum financial assistance of €80,000 per project.

Applications under the 3rd call of the Grant Scheme will be submitted from 29 April 2024 until 29 November 2024. Submission is ONLY online, at the link: https:/hippodamus.tph.moi.gov.cy/ApplicationSubmission.

Applicants must meet specific criteria and requirements in order to be eligible to become a beneficiary, which are detailed in the Guide to the Sponsorship Scheme. The Guide and its accompanying Annexes are available on the website of the Ministry of Interior and the Department of Planning and Zoning.
