The Prisons Department announces that the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra held a very successful concert today at the Prisons Department. The aim of this event was to provide a unique musical experience to the prisoners, highlighting the importance of art and culture in the reformation and psychological support of people in Correctional Institutions.
Music with its soothing and rejuvenating power has been proven to play a catalytic role in the emotional and psychological upliftment of prisoners, thus contributing to the reduction of stress and the improvement of their mental health. The concert, which included classical music, gave the attendees the opportunity to enjoy an hour of relaxation and feel the love and support of the community.
The Deputy Director of the Prison Department, Mr. Charis Filippidis, after thanking the Symphony Orchestra for its presence in the Prisons, referred to the importance of this type of artistic and cultural events and the effort made to ensure that prisoners have access to them. He also stressed that music can be a bridge of communication, offering moments of peace and personal discovery, while it has the power to transform lives and offer hope.
This action is part of a wider programme of the Prisons Department's management to develop cultural and artistic activities within the Prisons as part of the strategy for the rehabilitation and reintegration of prisoners into society.
