The President of the Republic, Mr Nicos Christodoulides, exercising his constitutional powers, has decided to appoint Dr Christodoulos Patsalides as Governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC).
Dr. Patsalides was appointed in March 2023 by the President of the Republic as his Special Adviser on Economic Affairs.
With extensive experience in senior positions in the banking sector, he worked at the CBC and continued his career in the private sector, while in 2018-2019 he served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Bankers Association. He retired from the private sector in October 2020. Subsequently, he provided consulting services in Cyprus and abroad in the areas of banking and insurance, fund management and financial technology.
He is an economist and holds a PhD Economics from the London School of Economics, University of London (1989).
Dr. Patsalidis is appointed and takes office as of 11 April, succeeding the current Governor, Mr. Constantinos Herodotos.
The President of the Republic wishes to express his thanks to Mr. Irodotou for their cooperation.
