Fifty years have passed this year since the Turkish invasion of 1974 and the Office of the Head of Humanitarian Affairs of Missing and Trapped Persons of the Presidency of the Republic is organizing, together with OELMEK, the event "No One Forgets, No One Is Forgotten". The event will honour Greek fallen heroes, whose remains will be repatriated or buried at the Mound of Makedonitissa on 30 May 2024, our teacher heroes, who offered what they valued most, their very lives, for the freedom of our homeland, as well as the missing teachers, whose traces have been sought for half a century.

The relatives of our Greek heroes will come to Cyprus for the repatriation ceremony of identified remains to Greece, for the funeral of those families who wish their loved ones to be buried in Cyprus and for the burial of additional identified remains at the Mound of Macedonitissa. All due honours will be paid at the ceremonies to our 15 heroes and their relatives. Another tragic story should also be made known, that of the case of the identified remains of our Greek hero who, despite the efforts of the Greek authorities, no living relative has been found.

The event will also honour our missing and fallen teachers who fought for the freedom of our homeland, as well as their families.

The event entitled "No one forgets, no one is forgotten" aims to keep the memory of the Cypriot drama of the Turkish invasion of 1974 unquenched, and especially what the relatives of our missing and fallen experienced and continue to experience.

Evridiki will sing for free at the event, while the choir and the orchestra of OELMEK with conductor Adriana Sergidou will participate.

The event, which is under the auspices of the President of the Republic Mr. Nicos Christodoulides, will take place at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre on 30 May 2024 at 19:30.
