[PIO] Announcement by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works regarding the workers at the port and marina of Larnaca

With the termination of the contract for the integrated development of Larnaca Port and Marina on 27 May 2024, the Government set a goal to ensure the smooth operation of the critical infrastructure of Larnaca Port and Marina, as well as the restoration of the project to its implementation path.

To this end, it has entrusted the interim management of the port to the Cyprus Ports Authority and the marina to the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works. In addition, during the transitional period, the employment of workers was arranged by the Larnaca and Famagusta Development Company.

With the assistance of the Cyprus Ports Authority, the work at the port and the Larnaca Marina was not interrupted even for one day, while, at the same time, the consultations with Kition Ocean Holdings Ltd for the delivery of the equipment, as stipulated in the contract, are continuing.

The employment of the employees of the Larnaca and Famagusta Development Company was completed on Friday, 28/06/2024.

At the same time, it is planned to start consultations with the ad hoc Larnaca committee on the strategic planning for the implementation of the project, with the aim of announcing the next steps by the end of July 2024, as the Government's commitment on 31 May 2024.
