Regarding current reports in both the press and social media regarding a bill that attempts to regulate the issue of sending and posting text of a false, blatantly offensive, obscene, indecent or threatening nature, the Ministry of Justice and Public Order states the following:
The Ministry of Justice and Public Order, listening to the concerns of stakeholders and others, had already scheduled days ago, before today's postings saw the light of day, a wide-ranging meeting at the Ministry for the purpose of discussing and re-evaluating the content of the draft bill entitled "The Criminal Code (Amendment) (No. 3) Law of 2021".
In addition to the participation of the Ministry's officials, representatives of the Legal Service of the Republic, the Pancyprian Bar Association and the wider journalistic community were invited to attend the meeting.
