The Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry welcomes today's passage by the House of Representatives of the bill entitled "The Retail Sales Price Recording and Monitoring Act of 2023". This Law will form the basis for the implementation of the Digital Platform "e-kalathi", the preparation procedures of which will be rapidly promoted by the Consumer Protection Agency so that it will enter into force in the first half of 2024.
The passage of the Bill is a very positive development and is part of the Government's people-centred approach to support households, particularly in difficult economic conditions and times of exogenous crises that affect the purchasing power and general interests of consumers. We believe that the Digital Platform "e-kalathi" will provide consumers with the necessary transparency and direct information on a daily basis on the prices of important products for a household, as well as the ability to compare prices and create a shopping basket with the most advantageous and economical options.
