The Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth announces that the Greek Government has issued a circular on "Instructions for the assignment and operation of the Social Security Number (AMKA)", according to which Cypriot students in Greece can now be issued a Social Security Number (AMKA) in the country, upon presentation of their identity card/passport and a certificate of study issued by their University.
Students are informed that they can obtain an AMKA through the National Social Security Agency (EFKA) or the Citizen Service Centres (KEP) operating in Greece.
It is noted that this decision is the result of the consultations held in November 2023, during the 1st Cyprus-Greece Intergovernmental Summit.
The Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth expresses its thanks to the Greek Government for this decision, which resolves a chronic problem faced by Cypriot students attending Greek Universities.
