The Larnaca Search and Rescue Coordination Centre (LRCRC) announces that on 24 July 2024, at 17:45, activated the National Plan E-D NEARCHOS for the purpose of airlifting a 54-year-old man from the Philippines, a crew member of the Singapore-flagged cargo ship "MAERSK CALABAR".
The ship was sailing at a distance of 123NM South-West Cyprus, within the E-W responsibility area of the Republic of Cyprus (FIR Nicosia) and a helicopter of the 460MED of the Air Command of the General Staff of the National Guard (GNF) with a qualified paramedic of the Ambulance Service was mobilized to perform the air evacuation.
The person was safely delivered at 21:28 to Paphos General Hospital for further treatment.
