The Health Insurance Organisation reminds beneficiaries that general nurses provide home care services, following a referral from a Personal or Specialist Doctor, to temporarily or permanently disabled persons. These services include checking and adjusting the beneficiary's vital signs, administering injectable medications, drawing blood, caring for catheters/stoma, educating family members on issues related to the beneficiary's self-care, etc.

The complete list of processes provided by general nurse practitioners is available at GHS website under Activity Catalogues-> General Nursing.

Finally, it is emphasized that home services provided by nurses under the GHS do not in any case include services that fall under the responsibility of caregivers.
