Specifically, in 2023, a total of 3,845,000 tourist arrivals were recorded, compared to 3,201,000 in 2022. In other words, an increase of 20.1% was recorded, and it was not far from the total arrivals of the year - a milestone compared to tourist arrivals in 2019, as the decrease was limited to 3.3%.
The United Kingdom was, as expected, our first market with 1,302.125 arrivals and a share of 33.9%, followed by Israel with 410,607 arrivals and a share of 10.7%, Poland with 273,872 arrivals and a share of 7.1%, and Germany with 211,216 arrivals and a share of 5.5%.
Other countries such as Sweden, Finland, Switzerland, Armenia, Georgia and all Middle Eastern countries recorded notable increases.
In his statements after the announcement of the results, the Deputy Minister said the following. It was set taking into account geopolitical developments, the economic situation in our main markets and in particular the high inflation that characterised most European economies and beyond.
It is with great satisfaction that we note today, with the announcement of the final official results, that our target has been achieved. What pleases us most is that the vast majority of the market is satisfied with the final results.
We are continuing our efforts not only to achieve good results next year but also to make the country's tourism product more and more attractive".
