Signed today, at the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare, in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Social Welfare Ms. Kyriakos Hadjivasilis and the President of the Council of Community Volunteerism of Dherynia Ms. Anita Lili, the first Public Funding Agreements between the Social Welfare Services and the Municipalities of Geroskipou and Dherynia for the expansion and upgrading of nurseries, within the framework of the Social Welfare Services State Grants Plan and the Recovery and Resilience Plan.

Ms. Evangelou welcomed the signing of the first agreements and congratulated the two Municipalities for their initiative and excellent cooperation with the CSOs, which led to the quick and efficient promotion of the projects.

In both the Municipality of Geroskipou and the Municipality of Deryneia there was a need for more places in nursery schools, which will also operate in the evening hours, enabling parents to join or remain in the labour market, in the context of reconciling work and family life.

The nurseries of Geroskipou and Deryneia already participate in the Tuition and Feeding Subsidy Scheme of the Ministry of Social Welfare, which provides the possibility of covering the tuition fees of all beneficiaries of the Child Benefit up to 80%, which further contributes to the reconciliation of work and family life.

Under the Recovery and Resilience Plan, 34 other projects are being launched concerning crèches, multi-purpose centres and small residential homes for the elderly.

The implementation of an integrated, modern social policy with quality support and care services continues, making use of the resources provided by the European Union, national resources and the adoption of good practices.
