[PIO] Announcement by the Department of Public Works for the commencement of works in the greater Larnaca and Famagusta area

The Department of Public Works, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces that as of 6/9/2023, in the greater Larnaca and Famagusta area, work has started on the replacement of obsolete signalling equipment by a private company in 33 light-controlled intersections and 12 Pelican-type pedestrian crossings with a new type of Extra Low Voltage (ELV) with LED lamps, a Pedestrian Countdown system and a touch-type pedestrian demand system.

The equipment replacement work at each location will be completed within one day barring contingency. During the work, the light-controlled intersections and pedestrian crossings will not be in operation unless it is necessary to install temporary traffic lights.

During the week of 8/1/2024 - 1/14/2024, work will be conducted at the following intersections/pedestrian crossings. 8.8.24.1. Arch. Arch. Larnaca. [*]Protaras Road - Cape Greco / Akefalou Street (Traffic Lights, Famagusta). [*]Avenue. Protaras (exit) / Protaras Road - Cape Greco (Traffic Lights, Famagusta). [/LIST]

The Department of Public Works apologizes for the unavoidable inconvenience and invites the public to show the necessary understanding and compliance with the temporary road signs.
