Despite my previous relevant Announcement, dated 20/6/2024, and the Decisions issued, I am disappointed to note that since yesterday a school photograph, in which children and teachers are depicted and identified, has been republished on Social Media. In the post/publication, the full names of the pupils are given.
In some of the posts an attempt has been made to conceal the identity of the individuals by covering their faces, but to no avail, as their full names are included.
Further to my previous Communication, in which I recall that the posting, publication, republication or reproduction on a public medium of videos and photographs which directly or indirectly identify natural persons constitute processing operations falling within the scope of the General Data Protection Regulation. In addition, I note that the Regulation includes provisions under which there should be an enhanced level of protection for children.
I call on users of PSIs to stop republishing the photograph in the interest of these children, who are a vulnerable category of persons.
Investigation procedures are underway.
