Regarding the new category of the Sponsorship Scheme "Photovoltaics for All" to encourage the use of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) and Energy Saving (EE.E), announced by the Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry, the Consumer Protection Agency has found that some traders participating in the scheme are charging consumers an additional fee.
The Consumer Protection Agency advises that participation in this Sponsorship Scheme does not provide for an additional charge to consumers and, therefore, any requirement on the part of traders for this purpose is unjustified and outside the spirit of the PV for All Scheme.
Consumers who have received or are expected to receive pre-approval to participate in the PV for All scheme are encouraged to check whether participating merchants are imposing additional charges. In addition, during the required market research, they should take into account that price should not be the only criterion, since particular attention should be paid to the performance of the photovoltaic system and its other technical specifications. In the same context, it is noted that the catalogues of the Scheme include a large number of participating traders, offering many alternative choices to consumers.
Finally, consumers are invited to take into account that there is a wide price variation on the market, but also a wide availability of systems within the amount covered by the aid. It is recalled that the total amount of the investment covered by the 'Photovoltaics for All' scheme is €5 000 and that any expenditure in excess of this amount must be paid by the applicant directly to the participating operator.
