Violations of the Unfair Commercial Practices towards Consumers Law

The Consumer Protection Service announces the adoption of an administrative decision and imposition of a fine of 3.000, against the company N.S. Pissarides Ltd for violation of the Unfair Business to Consumer Law.

More specifically, the Decision was issued following an ex officio investigation conducted by the Enforcement Office, which found the use of a deceptive practice by the company, which was found to be unfair in violation of the Law.

It is noted that a commercial practice is considered misleading when it contains incorrect information and is therefore untrue or, when, in any way, including its overall presentation, it deceives or is likely to deceive the average consumer, even if the information is, objectively, correct, or anyway, when it leads or is likely to lead him or her to take a transactional decision which he or she would not otherwise take.

The Decision is reproduced in full on the website of the Consumer Protection Agency (www.consumer.gov.cy).
