It is with great honour that I participate in today's event to inaugurate a production that coincides with the fiftieth anniversary of the 1974 Turkish invasion

And if for some, very few, "I do not forget" has faded, in Cyprus 50 years later there are still refugees, trapped, missing. And this production - and I thank especially Koulis Nikolaou and Andreas Georgiou - comes precisely to strengthen our efforts to never forget, because there are still today refugees, trapped, missing, there are many of our compatriots who are still suffering from the ongoing occupation, but at the same time it is not only about remembering.

At the same time, the production shows all of us, especially those of us who are at the helm of the state at this juncture, our obligation and responsibility to do everything possible so that this year's black anniversary is the last, since through the efforts that seem to be starting with the appointment of a new personal envoy of the UN Secretary General, a new "window" of opportunity is created, without ignoring the difficulties, the challenges, the problems.

I am here, we are here together with the political leadership of the country to do everything possible to liberate our country and reunite our land.

That is why I want to say to all the contributors to this production that your efforts come together with our efforts and I want you to know that, if you will allow us of course, we would like to include this production in the modest ceremonies that will take place in 2024 on the occasion of the tragic events.
