I would first like to thank the President and members of the Doras Community Council for inviting me to tonight's Community Ball. A celebration that has become an institution for Dora and the wider region of Krasochoria, which is part of a series of events organized in the Community, thus giving the residents and friends of Dora the opportunity to enjoy moments of fun.
Dora, a Community in the geographical region of Krasochoria, is an open-air museum of culture.
Dora, a Community in the geographical region of Krasochoria, is an open-air museum of culture. By strolling through its picturesque streets, visitors can enjoy the distinctive traditional architecture of the village, with an emphasis on stone, as well as the lush green areas, which testify to its idyllic natural beauty.
The rich history, the religious tradition, the attractions and the excellent quality wine products rank Dora high among the choices of visitors from Cyprus and abroad. Combined with the traditional characteristics of the Community, the landscaping and public utility projects that have been promoted in the Community have contributed to its rapid and rapid development.
I would be remiss, my dear President and dear members of the Community Council, if I did not express my sincere congratulations for the work you have accomplished over the past years. Your vision for a model community for the region is pervasive throughout the community. I am confident that with the same zeal you will continue, with the support of both the Ministry and the District Administration and the Limassol District Local Government Organisation and your Cluster, to work towards maintaining your unique identity and the even greater progress of your Community.
The Nicos Christodoulides Government is investing in the development of Communities as part of its wider strategy to support rural and mountainous areas. To this end, and with the aim of boosting the development of mountainous areas as part of the integrated National Mountain Community Development Strategy, the Ministry of Interior has been successfully implementing the Housing Plans for Mountainous, Arid and Disadvantaged Areas and Rural Areas since 2019, which have recently been revised to make them more attractive. The community of Dora is included in the Upland Housing Plans as an extremely mountainous and extremely small and remote community. Taking advantage of these Plans, a number of beneficiaries have taken advantage of the Plans and have chosen to set up their lives in the picturesque community of Dora. I am confident that after the review of the Plans, more families will show interest and contribute to the development of the Community.
Friends,
The Government and the Ministry of Interior in particular welcome and encourage any event organized by the local communities that promotes the special characteristics of the area and brings together the people of our land in a gathering that blends harmoniously with their traditions and entertainment.
Congratulations again to the organizers and I wish everyone a lot of fun.
