Dear colleagues,
It is with great pleasure that I have received your invitation to address the 1st Scientific Conference on Nursing, organized for the first time by the Pancyprian Nurses' Guild (PASYNO), in collaboration with the Pancyprian Association of Nursing and Midwifery.
I therefore extend my warmest congratulations to the organizers of your Conference, the theme of which is "Nursing: Challenges - Perspectives".
Nurses, midwives, as the largest professional body in the health sector, have the experience and knowledge that lead on a daily basis to improve efficiency, effectiveness, to provide quality care and to achieve optimal therapeutic interventions to patients and the general population, in an environment where the General Health System is now operating. It is important for nurses, midwives and policy makers to focus on providing effective nursing care and efficient health care systems as a key prerequisite for achieving optimal health and well-being for all.
Your role, dear ones, is multi-level and multi-dimensional and is located in the community, in the hospital, in education, in our country's Health System. Nursing science and practice, after all, is always human-centred and always acts according to the values of humanism.
In the health sector, the focus should be on improving the quality of care provided. The success of the above objective, through the major reforms in the General Health System of our country, is certainly based on the skills of human resources and cooperation with all relevant departments and institutions. At the same time, any observations and concerns of any stakeholder in society involved or affected in any way by the implementation of the GHS are taken seriously and studied carefully. It is our policy that for the GHS to exist, function and provide the best for the citizens of our country, it needs the fruitful contribution of all stakeholders in society. Reforms, which are real challenges, cannot be anything other than the product of collective effort and consultation.
Dear all,
The Ministry of Health of Cyprus always continues, within its capabilities, to work for the continuous improvement of the level of health and well-being of the population.
