It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to today's event organised by our Ministry, aimed at presenting the "Tender Guide for Businesses", as well as the important initiatives that the Consumer Protection Service has developed over the last two years.
As you may already know, the Consumer Protection Agency has produced a document, as a guide for businesses, the purpose of which is to guide them in relation to specific policies they have in place to promote their products. The guidelines given through the Guide are very useful, as the language in which the laws are written often requires further explanation, with simple understandable examples.
In addition, the European legislative framework is constantly being amended according to market needs and trends and, therefore, understanding the new legislation is the most important step in complying with it.
The faithful application of the provisions of this useful tool, which aims, firstly, to guide businesses as to the specific principles they should observe in relation to the policy of discounts or offers and, secondly, to inform consumers so that they know and assert their rights, I firmly believe that it will have a significant impact on specific sectors of the market. It will contribute substantially to enhancing transparency and the protection of consumer rights, but also to maintaining healthy competition.
This initiative will not, of course, solve all the problems of the market, but it is another important step in this direction and comes at a really difficult time for both consumers and businesses.
I therefore call on businesses to implement the provisions of the Guide correctly, as this will contribute to the smooth functioning of the market, to the benefit of all.
Good Let us not forget that synergies are always desirable because they strengthen and maximise the resulting benefits.
Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank businesses for their constructive attitude in the formulation and implementation of the Consumer Protection Service's policies and to assure you that the Service will continue with the same vigilance and zeal, always in cooperation with all the consumer and business stakeholders, to promote policies for the benefit of society.
