It is with great pleasure that I am with you today in Asbestos, welcoming the events that accompany the charity conference "EY - ZIN", We run for life, in memory of Thekla Augustis.

A conference which, embedded in the Limassol context, as a great sporting event, has become an institution, enriching the sporting events in our country.

It is no coincidence that every year on such days, just like this year, Asbestos attracts a large number of members of the running movement and friends of sport from all over Cyprus.

Young and old alike, through their participation, become partakers of the spirit and high ideals that sport stands for, of fair play and fair play, while having the opportunity to come into contact with the unique beauty and the special character of Cypriot nature.

The most important thing is that today everyone, through their participation, becomes a link in a chain of love and offer to our suffering fellow man.

The conference acquires added social value and becomes a major charity event, strengthening the human dimension of sport and multiplying its usefulness.

By supporting the goals and objectives served by the Pancyprian Association of Cancer Patients and Friends, it gives us the opportunity to stand as helpers and supporters in the daily struggle of cancer patients and their families.

A struggle given with patience and perseverance by the fighter Thekla Avgusti, managing to become a beacon of agility and a lesson of life.

A struggle given with patience and perseverance by the fighter Thekla Avgusti, managing to become a beacon of agility and a lesson of life.

And indeed, Thekla may have lost the battle, but she became the cause for thousands of other compatriots to draw strength, to give their own struggle, to emerge victorious and become an example themselves.

An example such as that of Petros Stylianou, who, turning his ordeal into a strength of soul, managed by cycling to further raise awareness of the local and international society about the disease of cancer.

As evidenced by the high participation in the conference, in this personal battle of each individual we do not want anyone to feel alone.

We stand by the side of our fellow cancer sufferers and become allies. Because the fight against cancer is a fight that we must fight together, each to the extent possible and in our own way.

The Government, demonstrating particular sensitivity, stands at the forefront of this effort, supporting cancer patients through a coherent policy, while taking targeted decisions that strengthen the prevention and effective treatment of this disease.

I would like to warmly congratulate the organizers, the Pancyprian Association of Cancer Patients and Friends, the EY-ZIN Association and the Cyprus University of Technology, as well as the volunteers, the supporters of this great effort.

Through today's events and the parallel events that were included in the programme of the conference, you gave a unique experience to young and old, but above all you became an example of selfless offer.

Addressing the runners, racers and children who took part in the preceding races, in addition to congratulating you, I would like to praise you for the strong message you conveyed today through your participation in the memory of Thekla Augustis:

The message that, despite the victory, what matters is the way you fought, trying to win your own battle.
