It is with great pleasure that I address the ceremony of presentation of the gift vouchers to the athletes of the "High Performance and Talent" plans of the Cyprus Sports Organisation. As part of these plans, we are honoring and rewarding today our accomplished and renowned male and female champions, as well as great talents, who excelled in the years 2022 and 2023. On their behalf, we also honor and reward their coaches as well as their families and loved ones, who contributed decisively, in their own special way, to their successes.
The national talent plan for young athletes was developed by the Cyprus Sports Organisation to support and promote sport at young ages and to push young talents into a successful sporting career. At the same time, rewarding high performing athletes provides incentives for even greater achievements.
Dear athletes,
As the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth, we are pleased and proud to note that in recent years, with your enormous effort, personal sacrifices and continuous successes, you have raised the level of our country's sport, making you the best ambassadors abroad. Today, your efforts are recognized and rewarded, thanks to which you have managed to stand out and achieve great distinctions and performances.
Only a few months before the greatest celebration of sport, the Olympic Games that will take place this year in Paris, our small island hopes and believes in you, in your qualifications and in your new distinctions, which will be distinctions of our entire people. The Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth and the Cyprus Sports Organisation make it a priority to fully support your efforts.
It is our duty to ensure the necessary guarantees in this direction, as well as an environment with equal opportunities, equal possibilities and equal participation for all. Together with the relevant and involved stakeholders, we will continue to work with the same zeal and dedication to strengthen the plans for the strengthening of our sports infrastructure, the promotion of young talents, the utilization of model athletes and, by extension, the progress and development of Cypriot sport, as outlined in the Governance Programme.
In conclusion, I warmly congratulate the President and the Members of the Board of Directors as well as the Management of the Cyprus Sports Organisation, both for today's initiative and for the general work they perform, highlighting the sport of our country at national and international level.
I wish everyone a good and creative year, with the expectation that this year will be associated with the realization of personal goals and even greater successes.
